Abstract
Vicarious experience is influential for girls and women
o “You can’t be what you can’t see” - role models can influence societal perceptions
o But role models have a tricky path to walk – not too dominant, not too geeky, competent at their jobs but still feminine….
We need to change social norms and influence social persuasion
o Create peer group support networks
o Use gender inclusive language
o Show women doing activities – and getting a good response from them
