Trusted research environments for health data

Abstract

This video captures the workshop on 'Trusted Research Environments for Health Data', delivered by David Western, Felix Ritchie, and Andy Gibson. This was part of the Connect, Collaborate, Create with Data and AI 2023 event organised by UWE Bristol and the Jean Golding Institute during Bristol Data Week 2023. The motivation for the workshop was to increase public awareness and debate around the concept of Trusted Research Environments (AKA Secure Data Environments; SDEs). SDEs are increasingly promoted as the mechanism that will enable trustworthy access to health data for research. Public awareness of the SDE concept is essential to validate the ethical basis for this approach, but has been lacking up to this point.
