Abstract

The paper 'Exploring the Intersection of A.I. and Human Creativity: Empowering Agency in an Age of Uncertainty' will be presented at the Prisms Education Symposium, a component of ICON12 at the Minneapolis Institute of Art (MIA) July 2024. This symposium welcomes a diverse audience, including illustrators, art directors, educators, students, researchers, archivists, and collectors.
The Prisms Education Symposium aims to explore various aspects of illustration, including its creation process, underlying motivations, and audience engagement. Discussions will center on the pedagogy of illustration, the impact of archival resources and technological advancements, and potential shifts within the field's practices.
The presentation 'Exploring the Intersection of A.I. and Human Creativity: Empowering Agency in an Age of Uncertainty,' aligns with the symposium's theme of "Translating Research Interests into Teaching" under the topic of "Grappling with A.I." I will examine the dynamics of creative exchanges, explore novelty within iterative processes and seek to acknowledge 'trace' as a valuable concept amidst generative image making - with a view to initiating conversations around A.I. and expanded graphic practices.
