Biography | Richard is Programme Leader for BA (Hons) Product Design and a Senior Lecturer in Product Design Engineering at the University of the West of England (UWE), based in the Faculty of Environment and Technology. After a first degree in Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College, Richard went to the Royal College of Art (RCA) and obtained a Masters Degree in the Industrial Design Engineering department. Graduation from the RCA was followed by a Research Associate position at the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design, a multidisciplinary institute for inclusive design. Richard then moved to Loughborough University to study for a PhD, the topic of his research was: 'Integration of EcoDesign Principles within Small Product Design Consultancies'. While at Loughborough University he also worked as a researcher on a number of Sustainable Design projects funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). Richard is currently based in the Faculty of Environment and Technology at the University of the West of England (UWE). He is involved in the development, delivery and assessment of modules that form part of the BSc (Hons) Product Design Technology and BA (Hons) Product Design programmes. Richard also continues his work in Sustainable Design and engages more generally in research and knowledge exchange within the domain of Product Design. |
