OntoSoS.QM.Gov: A quality governance framework for systems of systems

Many organisations develop Systems of systems (SoS) to accomplish their business objectives. SoS deliver new capabilities by enabling cooperation between existing constituent monolithic systems. However, domain and process heterogeneities and varying quality of services between these constituent systems raise governance issues at SoS level. This necessitates the need for an effective quality governance framework for SoS. Therefore, a generic quality management governance framework has been designed and presented for the systems engineering life cycle of SoS, namely the OntoSoS.QM.Gov framework. This framework consists of an ontological quality governance model that covers four quality governance components: SoS standards, SoS policy, SoS quality requirements and the processes within the SoS System Development Life Cycle (SDLC). One of the key anticipated outcomes of instantiating this framework is resolving semantic heterogeneities emerging from the SoS arrangement of monolithic systems individual policies, standards, quality requirements, and SDLC.
