Abstract
This is the first detailed interview with Simon Perry, an important independent producer and who was CEO of British Screen from 1991-2000 during which he help to support a range of British films that would otherwise not have been produced. Perry was a passionate Europhile and the interview explores the importance of European culture, co-productions and funding for British cinema that has not been encouraged or supported in film policy. Perry's views on the consequences of Brexit are fascinating. The interview also covers his five years as the CEO of the Irish Film Board (2006-11) and his role in setting up both the British Association of Independent Producers in 1976 and the Ateliers du Cinema European in 1993.
