Abstract
This chapter provides an introduction to enquiry into learning and teaching for academics in the physical sciences. By the conclusion of the chapter, it is anticipated that the reader will be able to identify key topics for educational enquiry in physics, chemistry and geoscience; recognise analogies and synergies between their science research and educational enquiry; and evaluate and choose a preferred research methdology for studying a topic of interest in their academic practice.
