Abstract

An evaluation of the effectiveness of the Drug Recovery Community at the HMP Eastwood Park, using quantitative and qualitative evaluation methods. A ‘Drug Recovery Community’ in a custodial setting refers to a dedicated prison wing accommodation that is entered on a voluntary basis by prisoners who wish to be drug free at the end of their prison stay. Other features of the community include a visible presence of peer support, tailored clinical and psychosocial interventions, and increased accessibility of health and wellbeing services available to prisoners.
