Abstract
After a brief overview of the key principles of international humanitarian law (IHL), this presentation focuses on the protection offered by IHL to medical personnel and medical units. The concepts of 'medical personnel' and 'medical units' are defined, the protection offered to them explained and then the conditions for the loss of protection stated.
