This chapter provides a description of the law that relates to child soldiers. It starts by explaining the various legal regimes that govern the situation of child soldiers, then moves on to providing a definition of a child soldier. It then discusses the recruitment, training and participation of child soldiers in hostilities. It also examines the issue of child soldiers as perpetrators of international crimes. The chapter finishes by looking at the protection of children in armed conflict.
