Biography I originally studied Biology and gained my PhD in 2008 at Imperial College London. I then went on to complete a Foundation Degree in Paramedic Science at St George's and register as a Paramedic. Over the last 10 years I have worked as a paramedic lecturer before becoming a Senior Lecturer/Senior Research Fellow at UWE. I am currently leading the Emergency Care of the Older Adult module on the Paramedic BSc programme whilst working on several research projects focusing on trauma care, particularly in the older adult.
Research Interests I am interested in all areas of emergency care research and particularly in the pre-hospital setting and the challenges that it can present. I am currently researching ways to improve the delivery of trauma care, especially for older people as well as safely minimising hospital admissions.
Teaching and Learning I am currently leading the Emergency Care of the Older Adult module on the Paramedic BSc programme. I have also led the Evidenced-Based Paramedic Practice and Advancing Paramedic Practice modules at UWE. I have a particular interest in clinical decision making, research skills for healthcare professionals, trauma care and care of older adults.
