Deputy Head of Department
Continuous professional development is a fundamental requirement of all healthcare and medical roles. However in a busy healthcare service finding the time and space to attend to this can be difficult. Furthermore when time is available the cost of accessing these opportunities can be prohibitive. Harnessing Social Media tools not only offers the opportunity to engage in free CPD activities. It allows us to move beyond our departments to learn and develop with our national/ international colleagues and in some instances our patients. Moreover for the advanced radiographer practitioner social media affords an adjunct to the traditional ways of interprofessional learning so as to extend both professional practice and local service. This presentation will provide signposting to these Social Media activities, explore how we can stay “safe” in this environment and highlight how activities can be documented in a CPD portfolio.
