Early Career Researcher Theme 2
Various life experiences can feed creativity. My professional training as a veterinarian was an unusual foundation for lateral thinking and creative improvisation. A lucky scholarship to study printmaking in Japan developed my technical ability. Shared studios in UK, China and USA as well as international teaching placements influenced my creativity through exposure to different cultures. Current role in the Centre for Fine Print Research is a chance for me to encounter various other ways of making using futuristic tools such as robots and 3D printers. At the heart of my personal practice is a dedication to printmaking, because of its ability to address issues classically depicted in print form: such as the multiple, transformation over time, materiality and sculptural form.
