Dr Puspa Pant

Biography I am a Public Health researcher with particular interest in Global Health and International Public Health. My recent work is more on injury prevention and safety promotion where I have used a range of approaches to achieve research objectives -- from mixed-methods to community mobilisation.
I completed Master's Degree in Population Studies from TU Central Department of Population Studies. During 1998 and 2006, I had worked for several educational institutions, NGOs and the United Nations food aid organisation, WFP. In late 2006, I went to Aberdeen where I completed MSc in Public Health (2007). In 2009, I started injury prevention research in Nepal with a scholarship from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA). I also received funding support for my field research activities from the Violence and Prevention Department of the World Health Organization.
Between 2013 and 2016, as a post-doctoral researcher at UWE Bristol, I have developed a community-based model of child injury prevention in Nepal through the mobilisation of mothers’ groups in rural Nepal. July 2017 and September 2021, I worked as a Research Fellow at UWE Bristol (UK) for NIHR-Global Health Research Project in Nepal also known as Nepal Injury Research Centre (NIRC). I have also worked as a consultant to RoSPA (UK) and World Health Organization Nepal.
I am a self-motivated and passionate in developing sustainable injury prevention strategies and knowledge transfer between high and low-income country settings. I am a member of the networks of professionals in the fields of drowning prevention, road safety, child injury prevention and global health. I am also a member of Britain-Nepal Academic Council (BNAC). I have received Gold Medal from the President of Nepal for my doctoral study on the Epidemiology of Child Injuries which is the first in Nepal. I strive for advocacy around safety promotion through developing networks, media and international peer reviewed journals. I am also associated with a number of international peer reviewed public health journals as a member of Editorial Board or a reviewer.
