Amanda Brook
| Biography | Amanda has worked as a photographer, lecturer and arts project manager for 30 years. Her photographic practice has been broad and varied, working on a range of commissions, residencies and projects for galleries, museums, charities and commercial clients. She has exhibited widely in the UK and internationally, and her work is held in a number of collections, including the Victoria and Albert Museum and the National Media Museum, Bradford. Amanda has won international awards and recognition, most recently selected for 2018 Sony World Photography Awards, Critical Mass Top 50 and Photolucida Solo Exhibition Award at Blue Sky, Oregon Centre for Photographic Arts, 2016. Amanda has managed long term arts projects for organisations including: Arnolfini, Education Unlimited, Fairbridge Trust, The Princes Trust, Knowle West Media Centre and NESTA/Wellcome Trust, and has supported artist led projects with Mark Titchener, Kathleen Herbert and Jyll Bradley for Arnolfini. Recent commissions have come from charities focusing on young people, disability and wellbeing and include: YMCA England, Contact - For families with disabled children, Baobab Centre for Young Survivors in Exile, and 'Mind You' -a mental health website for young people. In recent years Amanda has developed personal projects characterised by an exploration of place and people's relationship to it. In 2018 her project, A Fluid Landscape, which explores our relationship with the dynamic and shifting terrain of marshes and wetlands was published by Another Place Press. |
