Dr Jenny Rintoul
Research Interests | My current research interests are in two strands: iconography of the Nursing Virgin in the context of constructions of maternal femininities; and art education, particularly the teaching of Visual Culture (and related courses such as Critical and Contextual Studies) within art and design programmes. My work on art education includes relationships between making and writing, embodied knowledges, and the reification of 'intuition' and 'integration'. My monograph, published by Routledge, includes proposals for integrating Critical and Contextual Studies with studio practice through their curricula separation from one another. |
