Abstract
I’m invading The Poetry Society, throughout its centenary year, with Rome; an invitation to exhibit has been interpreted as an invitation to occupy. Invasion is messy and involves considerable negotiation: art, poetry, Rome collide. There is both superficial and in-depth engagement from all sides. A museum culture is established as things disappear and are replaced; some things go on loan to other projects, or are removed for photography and / or restoration. Memory and presence co-exist; history repeats itself, again. By the end of the year complete withdrawal will take place, and rapid excavation will reveal what, if anything, remains.
