The government’s air quality action plan to improve the health of the public

Abstract

This keynote presentation briefly considers the causes and impacts of air pollution and critiques the UK Government’s consultation on a draft revised UK Air Quality Plan for tackling nitrogen dioxide. The plan is considered to be inadequate for the scale and urgency of the public health challenge posed by exposure to nitrogen dioxide emitted principally from motor vehicles especially those fuelled by diesel.
