Abstract
Despite the scholarly attention on eye-tracking technology in the AEC industry, no studies thus far have attempted to aggregate the findings or knowledge. To bridge this gap and to better understand the state-of-the-art of eye-tracking technology’s application in the AEC industry, this study reviews and synthesises the existing research evidence through a systematic review. Such a review is highly critical in this area, given the vast number of published work albeit a lack of aggregation of the findings and knowledge. A full range of journal articles between 2010 and 2020 (inclusive), that address the application of eye-tracking technology in the AEC industry was systematically assessed after a thorough search of key academic databases. Based on rigorous inclusion and exclusion criteria, 18 eligible articles were selected for final review. This study develops a generic taxonomy built upon a wide range of Scholarly journals. Further, the eligible literature was classified based on this taxonomy and presented.
