Abstract
Through their engagement with the lives of labor migrants working on construction sites in southern India, the authors advance a critical understanding linking poverty, place, and migration. This article challenges conventional images of poverty associated with certain groups in society, in this case, labor migrants. Additionally, it offers cues as to how and why opportunities for spatial mobility in certain locations work to make poor individuals and families more resilient.
