Abstract

In any study that aims to fully comprehend the extent of global organized crime in the Caribbean, it is necessary to also consider the responses of law enforcement to the problem. In this book Ben Bowling, Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice at King’s College London, explores the law enforcement and security practices in the Caribbean basin. Bowling has succeeded in writing the most comprehensive book on policing in the Caribbean yet, based, as it is, on a detailed empirical study of law enforcement responses to security threats in the region. The author has, additionally, managed to produce that rarest of creatures – a specialized academic book that is also an immensely enjoyable read.
