Planning policy’s role in addressing health challenges
Carmichael, Laurence
Authors
Abstract
The role of planning in public health is vital to promoting physical and mental wellbeing. The National Planning Policy Framework highlights the need to include public health considerations in all planning decisions. Furthermore, as public health duties have been transferred to local authorities, this gives councils a unique opportunity to improve the health and wellbeing of their populations. How can local authorities and health agencies utilise the current planning system to achieve these aims, amidst all the other challenges they face?
