The butterfly effect: Facilitating and enabling citizen self-organising for systemic change

Laggan, Sophie

Authors

Sophie Laggan

Abstract

In this presentation for the Public Communication of Science and Technology conference, Sophie draws on three case studies from her own research that exemplify the changing nature of public engagement on climate change and air pollution. She explains how the 'spectrum of participation' can be used as a framework and 'community organising' as organising principles for empowering citizens to take action about things they care about.
