Abstract

Presentation and workshop item focused on how adult care law - principally the Care Act 2014 , Mental Capacity Act 2005 and the Mental Health Act 1983(2007) - impact on service users' ability to ask for support in their lives.

The presentation looks at situations where service users may not choose to receive the attention and intervention of social workers; what impact does this have on relationship building?

The presentation also consider an alternative approach, taken from the creative arts, to explore 'the art of asking'.
