Abstract

This paper is based on a research project titled: “Optimising the management of the gate of a freight terminal through the definition of new modes of share information between transport operators” funded by L.R. 7/07 by Sardinia Region. The project aims to optimise the functionality of a port terminal by defining new innovative solutions respect to exchange information between actors of Ro-Ro supply chain: the main project goal is to improve the information flows among the different transport and logistics actors in order to enhance the performance of the terminal in terms of productivity and service and, at the same time, reduce costs. For this reason an open-source online platform has been developed to test the new information flows system. Solution concern primarily booking operation, but also gate and yard management, terminal tracking, boarding operations. The research project is based on a case and it is being completed within June 2015.
