Abstract

A series of organochalcogen ester substituted h3-butadienyl complexes of the type [MoCl(CO)2(h3-CH2C(COXR)C=CH2)(phen)] were prepared from the acyl chloride precursor and either thiols or selenols, and the structure of the first selenoester substituted h3-butaidenyl complex was determined y single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Reactions of various nucleophiles or electrophiles were examined, and compared to those of related h3-allyl analogues and to their predicted behaviour based upon the structural evidence and molecular modelling calculations.
