Abstract
Study area is a part of Zard Kayedrafee river watershed in Khuzestan province of Iran. Hydrological units from 1:25000 digitized maps computed by using Microstation J and Hec-GeoHMS in Arc GIS software. In addition to hydrological units, nine factors of MPSIAC model were defined by using Arc Info, Auto CAD Map and Arc GIS. Land use and ground cover factors, topography factor, surface and channel erosion factors were derived from process of Landsat Satellite (sensor ETM images and ENVI software), the Digital Elevation Model (DEM) analysis and field investigation respectively. The data pertained to other factors has been obtained and calculated from existing maps and data. After weighting the above factors utilizing GIS overlaying analysis, erosion and sedimentation encroachment maps for one part of the river watershed were produced. As consequence, the study area was divided into 5 erosion classes ranged from very low to very high. Taking into consideration the above classes, appropriate measures can be taken to entirely protect the area or decrease the level of erosion of the river watershed.
