Abstract
The early results indicate that the exponential decay function when operated graphically serves as a straightforward and relatively simple means of predicting likely equipment breakdown, i.e. downtime. More research, however, needs to be done to demonstrate that such curves are robust and truly representative of equipment with varied histories in terms of maintenance record, usage and make. © 1993, Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
