A polynucleotide encoding the sequence for P4502E1 and a polynucleotide encoding the sequence for P4502E1 and a polynucleotide encoding the sequence for P4502E1 for one pig with high skatole is provided. An assay to identify pigs with a genetic predisposition is also provided.
