Abstract

A new edition, the fifth!... It has been a long road...
A road that, when traveling, suddenly and dramatically became
a complex and difficult journey.
In these years we have had to endure a terrible pandemic,
which took the lives of many and changed everyone’s, and
a horrible war in Europe that threatens, as if the loss of life
in Ukraine were not enough drama, to peace world. It is
difficult to try to review these five years without noticing the
tremendous reality of a world in crisis.
When we organized the Impact 10 International Printmaking
Conference, in 2018, and we proposed, to the Santander Port
Authority, the holding of a Mini Print contest at the Faro Cabo
Mayor Art Center, we were very excited that it would be the
beginning of a project that could remain and consolidate over
time.
Our illusion was overfull but, although we wanted it, we did not
imagine that in such a short time we could achieve everything
we had done. We hope it will be even more in the future.
This new edition consolidates our presence in the international
printmaking and makes Cantabria a unifying center for the
print world. We are proud that artists from so many countries
actively participate in the contest, generating bridges of
communication and camaraderie between distant peoples
sharing, print to print, this exhibition.
The inner strength of artists from all over the world and their
unwavering will to continue creating and dreaming with the
evocative power of calm seas, bright lighthouses and safe ports,
has generated a community of international artists who meet
again year after year, through their works, in the rooms of the
Faro Cabo Mayor Art Center.
In this fifth edition we have had the vision and experience of
David Arteagoitia and Pedro Galilea as guest jurors. They have
offered themselves warmly, together with the regular juries, in
the difficult task of awarding the prizes. Thank you very much!
This year, we are also happy because the Mini Print Cantabria
Collection has been invited by the University of Maria Curie
Skłodowska from Poland, to exhibit, in its brand new art gallery,
a selection of works from the Collection that has grown,
incredibly, thanks to the generosity of donations received year
after year.
Our thanks and gratitude, once again, to all the participating
artists, who make the Mini Print Internacional Cantabria grow
year after year and rise as a benchmark for small-format prints.
And of course, many thanks to the Santander Port Authority for
this long journey together.
