Biography | My work includes research, teaching, and scholarship. I am interested in applied research that addresses questions of importance to patients and healthcare. I have research expertise in developing patient-reported outcome measures, health education, and rheumatology nurse-led care. My expertise in outcome research ranges from developing new measures to undertaking cross-cultural validation, using modern psychometrics to enable accurate comparison of outcomes across different countries and cultures. I teach evidence and research in practice, and research methods, to help students develop the skills and knowledge to evaluate research evidence and use it to inform practice and policy decisions. I also supervise postgraduate research. I am interested in knowledge translation activities that support prevention of disease and improve health outcomes. I have experience using traditional mass media (TV, Radio) and different social media platforms to effectively communicate health information. In addition to my work at the University of the West of England, I am an active member of professional and research networks in the UK and internationally. I serve as Chair of the EULAR Health Professionals in Rheumatology Committee and Co-edit the Rheumatology Advances in Practice journal. In 2022, I was awarded the British Society for Rheumatology Droitwich Lecture Award for my outstanding contribution to health professionals working in rheumatology. |
