Abstract
This paper explores the role of Redistributed Manufacturing (RDM) in the delivery of humanitarian aid in response to disasters, conflict or emergencies. Humanitarian agencies must respond rapidly and with limited resources to address crises and deliver vital healthcare; often in austere and challenging conditions. Presenting the use of blood in emergency field medicine as a case study, our paper aims to connect advanced manufacturing R&D with end user needs in deployed humanitarian operations, and to support the identification of in-depth operational requirements that can be used to inform
future RDM innovation and enhance deployed medical capability.
