Abstract
Fuzzy control algorithms are used to give structure to the spatial categorisation of plant species by integrating digital elevation model data at increased resolution with data of selected climatic variables (mean precipitation, temperature, ground frost frequency and elevation). In previous studies, the climatic variables are obtained by minimising them to those essential for expression of the water-energy dynamic (the way in which water and energy are distributed in relation to diversity) in order to model life-history strategies of plant species. In this paper, Takagi-Sugeno-Kang fuzzy modelling is applied to infer which factors of the water energy dynamic may be used for efficient prediction of plant strategies. Implications of this paper include modelling of plant life-forms and metabolic patterning. Copyright © 2013 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.
