Abstract
The aim of this project is to determine the risks to bat populations from wind turbines in Great Britain. The project has investigated bat mortality and activity at a range of wind turbine installations across Great Britain and the results will be used to revise guidance on the installation and running of wind-turbines.
The aim is to understand the risks to bat populations posed by wind turbine developments in the UK . The objective is to gather enough quality data to establish whether bats are killed directly or indirectly by wind turbines and, if they are, whether this happens in only in certain conditions (e.g when sited on the ridge of a hill). If significant risks to bats are identified, guidance will subsequently be developed to mitigate against the risks.
