Conventional and renewable energy resources in Oman

Abstract
This presentation focuses on the conventional and renewable energy resources in Oman with a specific reference to climate change. The conventional energy resources which Oman is currently using are the oil and gas. These resources also contribute towards Oman’s economy. Conventional energy resources are considered as one of the efficient economical sources of energy; however, these cannot be use forever. These resources further effect environment and are the main cause for global warming and climate change. Different countries in the world are trying to adopt the renewable sources for energy which are sustainable and environmentally friendly. These resources include solar, wind, biogas, wave, geothermal and atomic. In this presentation an overview of energy content in different renewable resources available in Oman is given. Oman can adopt these resources and can develop the relevant technologies and manpower. This will further help Oman in achieving the UN sustainable goals for 2030.
