Hip replacement: You've had a hip replacement? Great… but do you ever need an MOT?

Abstract
Traditional orthopaedic care would have provided many of the patients with a hip replacement the opportunity for some follow up beyond six months after their operation. The current economic challenge within healthcare, together with the number of hip replacements in situ, means that this service is no longer sustainable. But for some patients, a well-timed follow up appointment may mean the difference between planned revision surgery with minimal disruption and extensive reconstruction surgery with a slower recovery.
This forms the background to an ongoing NIHR research grant with four projects which would be described briefly on the poster.
