This project has investigated the Durga Puja Festival in West Bengal in order to develop a framework and a methodology for more extensive mapping of the economic worth of the creative industries in West Bengal. It was commissioned by the British Council (India),
supported by the Department of Tourism, Government of West Bengal, and was undertaken jointly by Queen Mary University of
London and the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. The project was done between September 2019 and January 2020, with
fieldwork completed in an intense three-week period around the time of the Festival.
