Abstract

Indivisible: New American Documents was a large-scale contemporary photography exhibition, curated by Aaron Schuman, for FOMU: Fotomuseum Antwerp (Belgium) in 2017-18. It featured extensive installations by three of the most important and prominent contemporary American photographers today – Gregory Halpern, Sam(antha) Contis, Bayete Ross Smith – all of whom are innovatively blurring the lines between documentary and fine art photographic practice, and in doing so are addressing the turbulent social, cultural and political shifts occurring in America today.
