Abstract

This paper presents ongoing research at UWE Bristol which explores the perceptions and use of Generative AI tools in Higher Education teaching and learning. This work is based on a university-wide survey of over 300 respondents and captures current perceptions and use cases. The results indicate that many students are using GenAI tools, and generally have an awareness of ethical implications and limitations. However a general message from both students and staff highlights a need for additional training/professional development opportunities and clear guidance and use cases to fully embrace and embed AI into teaching and learning in an ethical and professional way.
