Abstract
The GREENGAGE project integrates Copernicus Earth Observation data to analyse area attractiveness and air pollutant concentrations, providing critical insights for urban planning and policy development. The project utilises high-resolution land cover information, forest types, and imperviousness data from the Copernicus Land Monitoring Service, alongside ISTAT population data for Italy's Lazio region. Visual analytics display key environmental indicators, including sealed areas, natural vegetation, open landscapes, and forest distribution. Air quality assessment encompasses NO₂, CO, O₃, and CH₄ concentrations (2019-2025), visualised through Kepler and Apache Superset platforms to enhance citizen awareness. Our ongoing efforts focus on strengthening data validation by incorporating local knowledge through the GREENGAGE app, enabling citizens to contribute real-time environmental observations that cross-validate satellite-derived datasets. This innovative combination of remote sensing and citizen science aims to refine environmental models and support evidence-based decisions for sustainable urban development.
