Teaching documentary to the digital generation

Abstract
This paper reflected upon the particular benefits of teaching documentary production to the (mal)content generation, ultimately suggesting that this genre still provides ample opportunity for students to engage with a wide range of social, ethical and philosophical challenges in the process of its production. In this way documentary can be seen to offer a range of tools by which to challenge and engage the 'click-shoot generation' to create genuinely meaningful content, so that they do not just attempt to represent the real world but rather actively engage in its interpretation.
