Abstract
Robot Thought is a performance piece designed to promote discusion amongst 5 -11 year old children and their families of the role that robots already play and might play in society. It was first performed at Explore, Bristol's interactive science centre (March 2005) and then subsequently at the Cheltenham Festival of Science (2005). This work was funded by a Partnerships in Public Awareness Award from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council EPSRC. National dissemination of this performance was funded by the EPSRC in October 2005 and at the same time it became a featured activity within Walking with Robots, an Engineering Stage Award. It was performed at the Boston Museum of Science in July 2006. A peer reviewed paper has been published that relates to this work: Burnet F, Johnson B and Bultitude K (2005) Hot Topics Proceedings of the Beijing PCST Working Symposium Strategic Issues in Science and Technology Communication.
