Abstract
Inspired by nature's evolutionary marvels, this study explores the development of a novel bio-mimetic prosthetic hand, emphasizing a soft robotic approach. Through a meticulous review of various prosthetic designs, focusing on actuation and construction techniques, we introduce a groundbreaking design featuring a unique actuator layout that mimics the human hand's functionality, particularly the CarpoMetaCarpal (CMC) saddle joint. Our research centers on the prototype testing of this robotic hand, which incorporates soft fingers and a thumb to achieve lifelike movements. The prototype's evaluation aims to refine its bio-mimetic attributes and functionality, contributing significantly to soft robotic prosthetics. This abstract encapsulates our journey from conceptualization to prototype testing, highlighting our ambition to enhance prosthetic technology through bio-mimicry and soft robotics, thereby offering new possibilities for prosthetic design and application.
