Abstract
Centred on voice as a lens through which we conceive of a social alterity that undermines current ideological dominance, 'When I Dare To Be Powerful International Conference' would like to invite proposals from academics, practitioners and activists interested in exploring coming to voice as an act of resistance.

Additional Information | Patricia was the Convenor of the conference. She secured funding and collaborated with a range of organisations including the New Art Exchange the UK’s largest gallery dedicated to contemporary visual arts from the Global Ethnic Majority, Bonington Gallery, the AHRC via the Midlands3Cities Doctoral Training programme and was also supported by Nottingham Trent University's Post-Colonial Studies Centre. Patricia led the team of nine doctoral researchers in delivering a series of online talks and podcasts as well as the one-day international conference that responded to the conference theme of 'voice'. The conference period ran from 26th April 2023 - 28th June 2023. |
