Abstract

This chapter covers Homeostasis, dehydration, gastroenteritis and sodium and potassium imbalance. The chapter explores fluid and electrolyte imbalance in children, starting with homeostasis and its role in maintaining the body's fluid balance. all children have a daily fluid requirement that can be affected by illness and disease. There are many reasons for fluid and electrolyte imbalance. This chapter focuses on the common causes and standard treatment as indicated by current guidelines.
