• Agenda live for first two of our four-part series that provides latest thinking and contemporary best practice around the investigation of serious and organised crime.
• The workshops will include practical skills, tactics and techniques and will consider the importance of developing an investigative mindset. We will also look at how effective decision making underpins a successful investigation.
• Aimed at new to role serious and organised crime investigators who want to develop their operational skills and more established investigators who want to build on their existing expertise and keep up to date with current developments
• Led by Paul Williamson and Ian Glover – two of the UK’s most successful and experienced senior leaders in serious and organised crime who have both worked in senior roles in the National Crime Agency and led some of the most high-profile investigations of recent years. You will get to directly engage with Paul and Ian and benefit from their experience.

9.40am-9.50am: Welcome and introduction, Carol Jenkins, The investigator. Introduction to Paul Williamson and Ian Glover
9.50am-10.50am: Session One: Introduction, The Investigative Mindset: a look at the importance of adopting an investigative mindset, evaluating, developing and testing case theory to help investigators better understand the material that has been gathered and influence the development of investigative strategy.
10.50am-11.10am: Break
11.10am-noon: Session Two: Proactive/reaction strategies which will include: Safeguarding, Financial Investigation, International Strategy, Case Management and Disclosure.
Noon-12.30pm: Break
12.30pm-1.50pm: Session Three: Covert Investigation strategies: An exploration of the following: Surveillance & Technical Operations, different types of HUMINT, Specialist Capabilities, Interception of Communications and Threats to Life.

9.50am-10.50am: Session One: Current threat picture of Serious and Organised Crime. A short history of ‘Pulling Levers’ disruption methodology and the importance of better collaboration and disruption tactics.

11.10am-12.10pm: Session Two: An exploration of the vast array of capabilities, key legislation and specialist knowledge which can be used to exploit weaknesses in criminal systems, ensure Lifetime Management of Offenders and to develop innovative solutions to existing and emerging problems.
12.10pm-12.40pm: Break
12.40pm-2pm: Session Three: Information and Intelligence capabilities that can help, the specialist teams that are accessible to provide advice in support of investigators and assessing outcomes.
2pm-2.20pm: Recap and key learning from the day, final questions.
