Abstract
Productivity problems were identified through a structured questionnaire survey of 31 project managers working on high-rise construction projects in Indonesia. The problems were ranked according to their perceived levels of importance based on the project managers' cumulative experience in managing such projects. Frequency of occurrence for each productivity problem on respondents' current projects were also solicited. The overall severity of productivity problems was then established using the product of these importance and frequency responses. Reliability of this 'severity' model was analysed using Cronbach Alpha measurement. Results indicate that the eleven items studied are reliable for broader future use in diagnosing the severity of construction productivity. © 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd and IPMA. All rights reserved.
