Digital thread: The missing link

Abstract

An area where model-driven engineering methodologies offer the potential to accelerate digital engineering in different development phases is the connectivity of models and lifecycle activities via a digital thread. However, we need to understand how the industry currently links the models and through it the lifecycle activities. The problem and the solution space are huge. The early to mid-lifecycle view of the problem will be looked at to see how models from the concept, preliminary, and critical design phases can be connected using the existing interfaces. We will also look at some bottlenecks and disconnections in the thread.
