Abstract
Is migration merely a problem for the world? Does it generate any benefits? Who does benefit from migration? In what ways can migration and development be linked? Routledge Handbook of Migration and Development is a comprehensive collection of essays addressing these and other key questions that have puzzled many during the last couple of decades. It brings fresh conceptual, theoretical, methodological, and empirical insights into the linkages between human movements within and across national borders and development. Chapters in this handbook explore both conventional themes, such as financial and social remittances, skilled migration, and diasporas, and less addressed issues, including climate change, forced migration, ageing, social care, and disasters. In doing so, the handbook enriches the scholarly field by means of enhancing our conceptual thinking and expanding perspectives on the idea of human movements and development.
