Abstract
Dr Hui-Ying Kerr and Rebecca Bell were awarded the role of co-chairs by the Design History Society to build a panel of speakers exploring so-called 'peripheral' narratives in global design history, re-examining methods by which post-war cultural practices have negotiated ideas of centrality. It took place in February 2018 on Los Angeles. The panel resulted in a funded research group (provided with funding from Nottingham Trent University's Global Heritage: Science, Management \& Development Seed-Corn Early-Mid Career Research Fund in June 2018) to explore next steps around journal articles and further projects. The group of ongoing researchers include Zara Arshad, Victoria and Albert Museum / Design History Society, Magali an Berthon, Royal College of Art, Vivien Chan, University of Nottingham / Design History Society, Ruth Clifford, Nottingham Trent University, Dr Carrie Cushman, Colombia University, Natalia Goldchteine, Independent Scholar, Di Liu, Hong Kong Asia Art Archive and Professor Susan Reid Loughborough University.
